Happy This Year

Recently I listened to a book written by Will Bowen: “Happy This Year!: The Secret to Getting Happy Once and for All”.  There are a number of thought-provoking stories and life experiences that help the reader consider what it takes to be happy.  It is not a panacea for making you happy, nor does it have a cure-all for our lives; but, it does help us consider what it takes to find that sacred path of a more Happy life. Einstein and Religion

I recently finished a book called “Einstein’s Cosmos” about the life of Albert Einstein and his theories.  I am fascinated with the man and his understanding of the unknown.  How he was able to see scientific theories without having the means to test them.  He loved to consider and solve issues about the Cosmos and Relativity.  He was not much into religion, but he did have a respect for it.

He was a master at one liners and come backs.  As I learned about his life and history, there was one quote that stood out in my mind:

Boredom

I just finished listening to a book named:  “Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things”.  The book, written by Jenny Lawson, is about her battle with Depression and other health issues.  She writes the book in a way that makes you laugh and at the same time think about how we as individuals act.  She makes a lot of interesting points, but the one I want to mention in particular is that of being bored. Time Evolution

We often talk about the evolution of the species and how, over time, animals change and adapt to their environment.  Recently, I was thinking about the evolution of Time.  We never get one second more, but it may seem like we gain more time based on how we use it.  It is interesting that in today’s world we have the technology and machinery to complete tasks that in the past took a lot more time.  With this, it seems that we now have more time to do other things, making us believe that we have more time.

As my thoughts ponder time, I realize that it does evolve within the environment we live.  This was brought to light when visiting my granddaughter in Park City at a Condo where they were staying.  As I was talking with her, she said, “Grandpa, come and look at this phone, it has buttons on it.”  She had never seen push buttons on a phone.   Continue reading Time Evolution

In Midway with Rachel and her family

Michelle and I had the great opportunity to go up and spend the day with Rachel and her family in Park City.  After we got there, we decided to go to Midway, so that Brooklyn could swim in the volcano.  There is a crater at the Homestead resort that has a natural spring inside of it and has been set up as a type of swimming pool.  The water is 80 degrees and quite nice to swim or just float in.  It is also around 60 feet deep.

Here are a number of pictures I took while there.
