Our first task for the day, was to get camp set up. We layed out all our blankets and
prepared for a good day at the beach. At this point, Kathy is still determining if
she will go to the swim suit. The rest are ready to go swimming. |
|
It didn't take long until Blake, Michelle and Stephanie were in the water. The one thing
that they were not prepared for was the taste of the water, the salt. Blake had a few
adverse reactions to the flavor, but within a few minutes he was going strong. |
|
A picture of Michelle and Stephanie coming back to fill us in on the water temperature, etc. |
|
Sand castles were the next item. There were buildings, motes and other ideas created.
But the waves would flatten the sand rather quickly. |
|
Greg decided to rent a surf board and try his hand at surfing. He had done it a few
years back in San Diego, but this was a little different. The waves here were a little
bigger and the tide was a little stronger. In about 30 minutes, he found himself about
300 yards north of where he had put in. |
|
The morning fog had burned off and the temperature had gone up. So, Kathy was out in
her swimming suit. Looking good. Carson, Greg's friend, is in the background preparing
to go boogie boarding. We had brought two boogie boards with us. We had purchased these in
San Diego a couple years back. |
|
Blake spent most of the day in the water. He did become accustomed to the salty water. |
|
As the afternoon wore on, the beach began to fill up with people. There were all shapes and
sizes. |
|
The one thing that we all did, even Kathy, was body surfing. We would wade out and wait
for a good size wave to come and then start swimming with the wave. It would then pick
us up and our body would become just like a surf board. This was great fun and we all
tried it, even Kathy. It is amazing how powerful these waves are. There were times
when you would find yourself tumbling head over heels with the wave. This picture shows
Greg preparing to body surf. |
|
Michelle and Stephanie took some time to look for sea shells. There were not a lot to
be found, but they did find some smaller ones. |
|
The older girls came to capture a little sun. So I captured them laying in the sun. |
|
A picture of Michelle and Stephanie battling the waves. I think that we were all taken
down by one or two waves. Again, the power of the waves was impressive. |
