Shopping, Oh What Fun!!!

After a day of no driving and just kicking back, we again took to the road, though today only had brief stints on the road. As we were driving to Palm Springs on Friday, the girls noticed a Shopping outlet and registered that in their minds. So Thursday was designated as the day for Shopping.

So we all packed up and went to the outlet stores expecting to find some great deals and spend a little money.

Well, it just so happened that it was another day of 115°+ temperatures. Our hopes and dreams of finding that great deal was soon dashed away. We parked and hurried to the stores hoping to find some cool air and great deals. To our dismay, the stores were closed because of a power outage. It was one of the famous California rolling black outs. The stores closed and locked their doors until the power came back on. There were still a couple of stores that were open, but not the ones that we would have liked to shop in. So we walked around in the heat and looked through the windows. To Blake's frustration, they had closed the Toy Store and wouldn't let him in.

I still took some pictures, see below:

Blake with Spiderman Given the fact that he couldn't get into the toy store, Blake decided to take a ride with Spiderman.
The Group Here we are enjoying the shade. Since there was no power, those stores that were open were hotter inside than out. But, if you will notice, the older girls still found something to buy. They were not to be deterred.
Almost Heat Stroke We spent a lot of time in the shade and resting.

We could only take so much, so after a couple of hours of waiting and hoping, we decided to leave. We then went down to the otherside of Palm Desert to a big mall. This was opened and had its air conditioning running and I found a place to buy a milk shake. I was happy.

Later in the evening we went to street festival in Palm Springs. We had a good time and it did cool down a little in the evening. I believe it was 105° or something like that (cooler). The following pictures are of the festival (Blake and Greg had stayed at the condo):

Michelle and Stephanie They didn't get to jump on this tiger, but Michelle and Stephanie wanted their picture taken with the tiger.
Street Festival This picture shows the street with all the booths lining both sides. There were evening performers and book signing being done along with many wares to sell.
Rebeca, Heather and Alisha Rebeca, Heather and Alisha enjoying the night heat. As you can see they have had an abundance of sun over the last couple of days.
Kettle Korn Here we have Kathy sampling and buying a bag of Kettle Korn popcorn (a weakness of hers).
The Group Just a little Kettle Korn to make all work.
The Purchase The purchase has been completed. The bag didn't last very long. I believe that the kettle korn is everyone's weakness.

We headed back to the condo and stopped on the way and had dinner at Applebees. It turned out to be a nice day.
