We had decided that we didn't want to make the full trip home in a single day and that we would stop in Las Vegas and spend the night. Kathy got on the internet and found a good price on a hotel, the Amerisuites. The great thing about this place was that it included breakfast and with a group as big as ours, this was a plus.
We had to check out of the Marriott by 11:00am. So we packed and got everyone ready for the trip. We decided that we were not going to drive the two lane road, but we were going freeway this time (see map below). This would add 100 miles to the trip, but we felt that we would be able to travel faster and easier, plus Kathy wouldn't worry so much.
True to form, as we traveled between Los Angelos and Las Vegas, we got separated. Greg had signaled to Heather that they needed to stop (Blake had to go to the bathroom). Heather called us and so we pulled off at the next stop and Rebeca followed us off the exit. Well, Greg continued on down the freeway. We then turned around and tried to find him. He had exited the next stop and turned around and came back. We missed him. So we spent the next couple of hours trying to find him. He finally pulled over and asked a policeman if he could use his cell phone. He called me and we told him where we would be waiting and to meet us there. We finally met up and continued on into Las Vegas.
We arrived in Las Vegas right at rush hour on a Friday evening. It took us a while to get through the traffic and to the hotel. The Amerisuites were located across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe and Hotel.
Just across the street there was a billboard that had a picture of some fellows and so I took a picture for Gram.
The kids went swimming one last time that night. The next morning we packed and headed home. At this point it was a straight shop from Vegas to Salt Lake on I-15. No chance of getting lost or separated. So we told everyone to just take off. The three older girls arrived home about an hour before us. Greg stayed with us and we arrived home at around 6:00pm.
