Around November 1993, Jean was getting ready to go somewhere and went to grab her keys, they were nowhere to be found. We spent many days looking for those keys. Finally, I told Jean to take my keys and make a copy, which she did.
Between November and Christmas time, Jean and I would make comments to each other saying, “I wonder what happen to those keys”. Jean never misplaces things.
We had almost forgotten about the keys and moved on to get ready for Christmas and the holidays.
Christmas morning finally arrived. We all gathered to the front room where the Christmas tree was located and began separating the presents from under the tree. While we were handing out the present Corey found his way to the tree and grabbed a small gift and handed it to his mom. As he handed it to Jean he said, “You are going to really love this”.
We moved forward with opening presents. When Jean’s turn came along, she opened this small give from Corey. When it was opened, guess what it was, yes, her keys. Jean and I started laughing. I then asked Corey, how did you know that you mom was going to love this gift? He said, because you guys have been asking for them for a long time. Now, you have to picture the small Corey with the blond hair and big cheeks sitting on the stairs with a little smile on his face saying, “you have been asking for them for a while”.
After that comment, we laughed and laughed. We have told that story many times since. It was a great Christmas.
Boy, do we love these boys.
