Life presents us with many decisions to make on a daily basis. Some have to be made on the spot, others can be worked on for some time, allowing us to look at many different options. In the end, we are always hoping that the decision we make, be it quick or drawn out, is the correct one. This story is about a decision that had to be made quickly… Continue reading

Summer Camping
Summer camping!!! We as a family have been doing this for as far back as my memories go. As children we always looked forward to this week. My mother’s family, the Rigby clan, would meet at a designated place and we would spend the week together; swimming, hiking and sometimes just doing nothing. Continue reading
That Damn Dog
As we traverse this experience we call life, there are situations that can bring out, what we may call our alter ego. A person can be easy going, generous and very nice to all around. But what happens if something or someone invades our space without permission or thought. Here is, as Paul Harvey would say, “The rest of the story!”. Continue reading
Twin Drivers
This story is about Rachel and Rebeca and their decision to take the car for a joy ride. All children grow up anticipating the opportunity to drive a car. They watch their parents from the time they come home from the hospital until that blessed day when they get their driver’s license. Sometimes the desire to drive a car is just too great. This is that story. Continue reading
Who Says I Can’t Talk to my Son
Recently I was talking with Maegen about some differences of opinion between her and her daughter’s volleyball coach. As we talked, it reminded me of an incident with my dad and my high school sophomore football coach. Continue reading
Who Are We
A few years back, I read a book by Susanna Kearsley: “The Winter Sea”. This is a fictional story about a current day author writing a story about the Jacobites (those who wanted to bring the exiled King James back into power circa 1688-1709). The book starts with the author doing research on the history of these Jacobites. She had thoughts and feelings that could not be found in the research she was doing. The more research she did, the more nagging these thoughts and feelings were. One comment that was made in the book was, “Can memories be passed down through DNA?” Are those Déjà Vu moments that we sometimes experience actually memories from those that passed before us? Family Portrait
Sometimes we forget that we were all young. I am thinking that this photo is just over 30 years old. What a great looking family.
The Start of it All
Richard (Dick) Denning (Dad) married Leann Rigby (Mom) on Friday, February 15, 1957.
Our Stories, Our Legacy
Stories are who we are. And all those that knew Dick Denning knew that he loved to tell stories. So in the light of posting all his stories, those that can be remembered, let’s also post stories about each other. These posts can then be off loaded and saved for posterity. Stories are fun and as they are told around the campfire can become bigger than life. So, let’s write them down, before they do become more fiction than reality. But, also, let’s have fun. Let’s post favorite quotes, anecdotes, etc. and maybe along the way we can inspire someone to do greater things with their life or at best be happy with what they have.
