Hawaii June 19, 2015 – Day 8

I am sitting in the Kono airport waiting to board our flight.  Our flight leaves Kono at 10:45 p.m.  and arrives in Phoenix at 7:30 a.m.  We then leave Phoenix around 10:05 a.m. and arrive in Salt Lake at 12:44 p.m.  So this will make for a long night.

Our 90 minute presentation took 60 minutes today.  He tried but could not persuade us to buy.  We then drove up to Waikola beach and walked around.  We ate lunch at the Macaroni Grill.  Then drove back to Kono.  I made a wrong turn and we ended up at a beach where the surf was coming in 10 to 15 foot waves.  They were very impressive.  I took a lot of pictures.  I love to sit and just watch waves come in to shore.

We then went to Costco to fill the rental up with gas and walked through the store.  Since it is air conditioned and the temperature is around 90 degrees with high humidity, it felt nice.  We bought something to eat and then went to the airport.  It is over except for the fat lady singing (the airplane ride home).

Before we went to Costco we were walking through a strip mall and went into Office Max to look around.  We have been looking for a couple of good head phones.  They had the Beats head phones on sale  for 49.99 regular 299.99.  We thought that a great deal.  In fact it was too good to be true.  The manager said they had been miss priced, but since that is what the sign said he would give us one pair.  We tried to get two pair but he wouldn’t go that far.  So we bought another pair that were on sale and walked out with two sets of headphones.  One a good deal, the other a great deal.

This airport is open air.  The planes are parked right outside the sitting area and we can hear the engines warming up and shutting down.  It is also very humid and no air conditioning, since it is outside.  The gift store and restaurant has air conditioning, but that is it.  So, after sitting here for a couple of hours, I am thinking I will freeze on the plane.

The trip has been great.  We have seen a lot of spectacular things.  We have learned a lot about the Big Island, as it is known here.  It is a wonderful place to visit.  Over the next few days, I will try to get some of the better pictures posted so you can also have a visual of what we have seen.
