Why do we feel that we have to travel to far and exotic destinations to see amazing things, when in reality, there are many beautiful destinations right in our own backyard. The beauties of this world lie all around us, both far and close.
This past week we had UEA (Utah Education Association) weekend. This means that all the kids and teachers are out of school for Thursday and Friday. Teachers are encouraged to attend the UEA Convention downtown Salt Lake City. They participate in discussions and listen to lectures and presentations. But, since the convention is not necessarily required for teachers, we decided to use the two days as a vacation and went to Park City for three days. It been a few years since our last visit and we thought a great opportunity to revisit spend a couple days looking around and just relaxing.
We drove up on Thursday and spent the afternoon walking up and down Main Street, Park city. We stopped in all the galleries, looking at paintings, sculptures and other works of art. Every time I walk through an art gallery, I think that one day I will see one those pricey paintings hanging on the wall and the tag with one of my daughters’ names on it.
I remember going to an art show in Park City a number of years ago and the show contained paintings by an old friend that I had grown up with. His paintings were amazing and the prices were just as amazing (high). He told me then, that he couldn’t avoid to by his own paintings. Granted that was a number of years ago and I am sure he could do it now.
I digress, but we had a good time walking down and then up Main Street. I had left my big camera home, so what follows are phone pictures.
Friday we decided to take a drive up to Mirror Lake. The drive was beautiful through Kamas, the mountains until we were at the top. Along the way we saw a sign “Upper Provo Falls“, so we turned in and found an amazing sight. Phone pictures are all you get here, but they still show the beauty that we saw. The water is slow and slight now, but I can only imagine the amount of water running during the spring runoff and the sight it would present.
We reached our destination, Mirror Lake and walked around the lake. It was serene, peaceful, and very beautiful.
Saturday was spent at the Olympic Park and Museum close to Park City.
And there you have it. A three-day getaway with pictures and beauty all around. Who says it has to be around the world to make it a great vacation.
I hope to be a famous artist one day too. 🙂
Love the post dad. Thanks for sharing. Love you!
